Brett Morich Returns with Transition to Defense

The Port Huron Prowlers have announced the return of Brett Morich. He will enter training camp as a defenseman after transitioning from forward.

“We’re excited to have Mo back for this season as he transitions from play forward to defense this year,” said Prowlers assistant general manager Alex Johnson. “Mo is one of the most hardworking players on the team and will do anything for the players in the locker room with him. He is a guy people should look at when they want to know what it takes to be pro. He constantly does the right things on and off the ice. You can’t teach the work ethic he has. He will do whatever it takes to get better and better each and every day.”

As a rookie last season, Morich appeared in 26 games and contributed a goal and two assists for three points with 68 penalty minutes. He finished the season on IR after suffering an injury in late February.

“I’m really looking forward to attending camp as a defenseman,” Morich said. “I’m grateful for Coach Jeff Blum and all the time he has invested in me on and off the ice to prepare me for this upcoming season. I’m beyond excited to continue pursuing a championship for Port Huron and all those who support us. The team we have returning this year is an extremely special group of guys.”

Before turning pro, the Phoenix, Arizona native played two years at Bethel University, where he served as an alternate captain during his sophomore season, before one at University of Dubuque.
