Bucell Returns with Unfinished Business
The Port Huron Prowlers have re-signed alternate captain Jamie Bucell the team announced Friday. Bucell was selected by the Stockton Thunder in the Expansion Draft in June, but returned to Port Huron via trade two days later.
“After thinking long and hard about whether or not I was retiring, I'm happy to say that I’m back,” Bucell said. “This organization, this city and these fans hold a special place in my heart. The culture that has been established here over the past few years is unparalleled. I'm excited for the season because this group fears nothing. Simply, with how the past couple seasons have gone, we’re not satisfied. We have unfinished business to attend to and can’t wait to get back in front of a packed house at McMorran.”
Last season, the Garfield Heights, Ohio native posted 30 points in a career-high 53 regular season games. Three of his 10 goals came on the power play and he finished with 111 penalty minutes. Bucell added a goal and an assist in six playoff games.
2026-27 will be Bucell’s sixth as a pro after beginning his pro career by signing with the SPHL’s Macon Mayhem near the end of the 2021-22 season following his fifth and final year at NCAA DIII Utica University. He also played two seasons with the Huntsville Havoc but has spent most of his career in the FPHL split between the Prowlers and Binghamton Black Bears. The 30-year-old has amassed 75 career FPHL points in 118 career games.
“Buck has been everything we could have hoped for and more since coming here,” said Prowlers general manager Matt Graham. “He has helped shift the culture to what it is today. He is a player that can play in any situation, willing to stand up for his teammates, and leads by example. Very excited to have him back and looking forward to getting started.”
