Matt Connor Latest Curry College Alum in Port Huron

The Port Huron Prowlers have their first new face on the blue line for the upcoming season as they announced the signing of Curry College defenseman Matt Connor. Connor was a teammate of current Prowlers Reid Cooper and Nick Favaro during his college career.

“We’re really excited to add Matt,” said Prowlers general manager Matt Graham. “He comes from a great program, Curry College. They have produced a ton of great talent including Cooper and Favaro. We have been very selective with who we add to a group made up of mostly returners. I think he is going to add to our group and fit in well.”

As a senior last year, Connor appeared in 16 games and registered five assists. He also finished the season +2 to end his NCAA DIII career +40 which is the fifth-best recorded career in Curry College history.

The 6’2” blueliner spent four years at Curry and racked up 55 points in 99 games including back-to-back 20-point campaigns as a freshman and sophomore. Connor was named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Third-Team All-Conference and to the U.S. College Hockey Online All Rookie Second Team his first season and CCC First Team All-Conference his second. He also helped the Colonels to a College of New England title as a junior. Before college, Connor played two seasons for the NAHL’s Maine Nordiques.

“I chose Port Huron because I already know a few guys on the team and I’ve heard a lot of good things about the organization,” Connor said. “It felt like a great place for me to start my pro career. I’m looking forward to competing, getting better every day, and doing whatever I can to help the team win. I’m really thankful for the opportunity and can’t wait to get started.”
