Port Huron, MI- The Port Huron Prowlers announced today that 20 year old Toronto native Yianni Liarakos has signed with the team for the 2017-2018 season. Liarakos is coming off a record breaking season with the Blind River Beavers of the NOJHL with 11 game winning goals during the 16-17' season, leading the entire 132 team Canadian Junior Hockey League (notching an additional 2 GWGs during the playoffs). With 39 goals and 39 assists in 54 games he was second in scoring for the NOJHL. Post regular season, Yianni was named to the CCM First All Star Team for the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League and was a key playmaker during the Beavers playoff run where he lead the league with 12 goals and 13 assists in 16 games and played a major role in his team winning the West Division Championship.

Liarakos not only will play a vital role on the ice but hopes to make an impact in the community as well. "I am very excited to start a new chapter in my hockey career with the Port Huron Prowlers. I am looking forward to playing for Coach Joe Pace, Sr. given his many years of coaching experience and expertise. I am thankful for the opportunity I have been given to play with the Prowlers organization and I am excited to meet all of my new teammates as well as the fans in the community. I have heard great things about the fan support Port Huron has and I am excited to play in a great facility such as McMorran Place. I hope to be able to help out with the Port Huron Flags Minor Hockey Association and get to meet all of the young fans and future hockey players. I'm eager to get on ice to proudly represent the Port Huron Prowlers, said Yianni.

According to coach Pace, he is looking forward to bringing a fresh talent and high energy player into the locker room with a core group of Prowlers veterans like captain Joe Pace and forward Branden Parkhouse. "I'm happy to have Yianni coming to Port Huron, he will bring skill, high energy and most of all a great attitude. He was highly sought after by quite a few teams and we feel very fortunate that he choose Port Huron as the place he wanted to live and play."
