Port Huron Adds 6'4" Rookie Forward Alex Gomez
The Port Huron Prowlers have added size up front with the signing of 6’4” 190 lbs rookie forward Alex Gomez. The 24-year-old wrapped up a college career that saw him play at the NCAA DI and DIII levels.
Last season was Gomez’s only campaign at NCAA DIII Utica University. He registered three assists in 14 games as part of a team that won the United Collegiate Hockey Conference title.
“We’re very excited to bring Alex to Port Huron,” said Prowlers’ associate head coach Chris Paulin. “We got to know Alex very well recruiting him last season and he has the mentality, perseverance, and drive that will translate to success in professional hockey. We expect Alex to have an immediate impact, not only on the ice, but also in furthering the culture we have developed here in Port Huron. The sky is the limit for him and we can’t wait to get started!”
Before transferring to Utica, the Parker, Colorado native spent three years at NCAA DI University of Alaska-Anchorage. There, he appeared in 64 games over three seasons and picked up three goals and 13 points. Gomez played three junior seasons in the NAHL, primarily with the New Mexico Ice Wolves, where he had 61 points in 153 games.
