PROWLERS ACQUIRE GRAHAM, JOHNSON AND YAKURA IN TITANS DISPERSAL DRAFT

A dispersal draft for the 12 protected Danbury Titans players took place on Wednesday with the Prowlers acquiring forwards Matt Graham, Alex Johnson and Dean Yakura.

From Rancho Cucamonga, California, Matt Graham played 49 games for the Titans last season, with 23 goals and 35 assists, and was third in points for the team. Prior to last season Graham spent the 2013-2014 season in the FHL with Watertown and won a championship in 2014-2015 with HC 07 Petva. "Having been a part of the league I know that Port Huron is one of the best places to play. It's really unfortunate what happened in Danbury but if there was anywhere else in the league I would want to be it's in Port Huron. The fans, the arena and the atmosphere is top notch. I'm familiar with a lot of the guys there, I've played with and lived with Wadsworth in Danbury, and I've played with Parkhouse for over 10 years. I'm very excited for the opportunity to contribute to what is already a championship caliber roster and bring another championship to Port Huron," says Graham.

Forward Alex Johnson spent three seasons at South Dakota State University before turning pro in 2015. His FHL career includes 56 games with the Brewster Bulldogs during the 2015-2016 season (22 G, 15 A) and 24 games with Danbury (7 G, 7 A) last season prior to obtaining a season ending injury that required surgery. Alex is looking forward to being a team player for the Prowlers and giving 110% every game. The St. Paul, Minnesota native said "I couldn't be more excited to be drafted by the Prowlers. Coach Pace has assembled a talented roster full of tough, skilled players that will be tough to play against every night and will definitely be a championship contender at the end of year. Port Huron has always been one of my favorite places to come play, the games are always fast paced and there is a great atmosphere in McMorran arena, I’m looking forward to feeding off of the energy on the home side. Last season fell way below my expectations as far as myself goes, two injuries set me back with one ending my season, but in turn that has made me even hungrier to come back and be better than ever. I’m ready to come in and prove myself and hopefully will be a great fit for the Prowlers. October can’t come soon enough."

Dean Yakura in a veteran of the FHL, spending three seasons with the Titans after previously playing in both Dayton and Danville. In 37 games played last season, he had 10 goals and 31 assists for a total of 41 points. From West Vancouver, BC, Yakura attended American International College where he played Division I hockey and was named NCAA Atlantic Hockey Academic Player of the Year two seasons in a row.

The Prowlers will start the season on the road in Danville on Friday, November 3rd.
