Prowlers Add Port Huron Native to the Crease
The Port Huron Prowlers have a new face in the crease as they’ve announced the signing of rookie goaltender Andrew MacLean. The 25-year-old is a Port Huron native.
“I’m incredibly honored and excited for the special opportunity to play for my hometown,” MacLean said. “I’m proud to represent this community on and off the ice every day and I, ultimately, look forward to bringing a championship back to Port Huron”
Last season was MacLean’s third at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) and in 14 starts, he finished with a 9-5-0 record, a 3.21 goals-against average (GAA), .897 save percentage (sv%) and one shutout. That was good enough to be named to the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) All-Conference Second Team. Once the playoffs rolled around, MacLean stepped up his game to another level as he led the ACAC with a 2.34 GAA and .924 sv% along with a perfect 5-0-0 record to lead the Trojans to the conference title. He recorded a shutout in both series-clinching games.
Before going to SAIT, the 6’2” netminder started his college career with a year at Brock University in 2022-23. That followed a successful junior career that he capped off in 2021-22 with a GOJHL championship with the St. Catherine’s Falcons along with being named league MVP and Goaltender of the Year. MacLean also played two seasons in the OHL with three teams.
“We’ve had the opportunity to skate with Andy this summer,” said Prowlers associate head coach Chris Paulin. “Getting to know him, it’s clear that this community, organization, and team mean a great deal to him. I expect Andy to compete and battle like he never has before. He has a high ceiling and we’re all excited to work with him.”
Hockey season is coming fast and the Prowlers return to McMorran Place on October 23! Lock in your seats for the season now at phprowlers.com/season-memberships.
