Prowlers Grab Houston Wilson From Pee Dee

The Port Huron Prowlers have selected forward Houston Wilson in the Pee Dee IceCats dispersal draft on Friday. Due to the number of players available and randomized selection order, Port Huron had one selection in the draft.

Last year, Wilson was one of the top offensive producers for the IceCats as he finished third on the team in assists (41) and points (59) in 48 games. In the playoffs, he added seven goals and 10 points in nine games including a hat trick and the overtime series-winning goal in Game 3 against the Columbus River Dragons to send Pee Dee to the Commissioner’s Cup Finals. Wilson also served as an alternate captain.

“[Wilson] was the player on the top of our list heading into the draft,” said Prowlers general manager Matt Graham. “We’re extremely happy to add him to our roster and now it’s on us to get him here.”

The 30-year-old has split his five-year pro career between the FPHL and SPHL. He has 125 points in 127 FPHL games over four seasons with the IceCats, Monroe Moccasins, Elmira River Sharks and Delaware Thunder. Wilson has put up 57 points in 122 SPHL games and appeared in an ECHL game for the Reading Royals. He played his college hockey at Stevenson University.
