Prowlers' Season Ends in Binghamton
For the second-straight season, the Port Huron Prowlers fell in a series-deciding Game 3 at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton, New York. This year, they came up a goal short in a 2-1 defeat.
The Prowlers, who won the night before to force Game 3, scored first just over two minutes in when Ryan Alexander’s centering pass hit a Binghamton skate and bounced in.
The Black Bears tied the score in the middle frame seconds after having a goal overturned. Ivan Bondarenko found Mac Jansen for a back-door tap-in that counted and made it 1-1 heading into the third.
Binghamton got a five-on-three early in the final period and Jansen scored another back-door tap-in. Port Huron was unable to find an equalizer and the Black Bears advanced to the Commissioner’s Cup Finals for the third-straight year.
Reid Cooper made 36 saves in the loss.
Jansen led Binghamton’s offense with both of his team’s goals after sitting out Game 2. Bondarenko assisted on both and Dominik Tmej stopped 21 shots.
The Prowlers end their season in the same spot for the second-straight year. The organization extends its appreciation for the fans and corporate partners for another fantastic season and looks forward to seeing everyone again in the fall.
