Prowlers Sign Rookie Forward Riley Sutherland

The Port Huron Prowlers have added their second rookie forward of the summer in Riley Sutherland. The 25-year-old spent the last four years at SUNY-Plattsburgh.

As a senior last season, Sutherland pitched in seven points in 25 games with two goals and five assists. He was also credited with 12 blocked shots.

Over a four-year NCAA DIII career at Plattsburgh, Sutherland put up 27 points in 81 games including a shorthanded goal and two game winners. He was part of the Cardinals’ 2022-23 SUNYAC championship team as a freshman. Before college, the Burlington, Ontario native spent a season in the OJHL and three in the GOJHL.

“Riley is someone we’ve had on our radar since last season,” said Prowlers associate head coach Chris Paulin. “He’s a hard-working, disciplined player. We expect him to play with a lot of grit and be very disruptive. He’s another guy who has persevered through a lot of adversity in his career. At Plattsburgh, he consistently found a way to impact the game in a positive way and contribute greatly to his team. Riley is hungry to launch his pro career and his personality, mentality, and grit are well aligned with our locker room here in Port Huron. We’re very excited to see him come in and compete from day one.”
