Reid Cooper Returns to Prowlers Crease

The Port Huron Prowlers have announced the return of one of the FPHL’s top goaltenders in Reid Cooper. The most recent October/November FPHL Goaltender of the Month has a chance to break multiple franchise records this season.

Last season, Cooper took the reins as the starting goaltender and went down as the goaltender of record in 33 games. His 23 wins were third in the FPHL, and his 2.28 goals-against average (GAA) and .930 save percentage were both second. Cooper’s three shutouts were tied for the second-most in the league. The Corman Park, Saskatchewan native’s numbers got better in the playoffs as he posted a 1.79 GAA and .948 save percentage to go with a 3-2-1 record.

“I’m very honoured to be wearing the Prowler logo again,” Cooper said. “There has been a ton of growth in all aspects of the organization over the last few years and I think everyone knows and feels what this year means to the team, the fans, and the city of Port Huron. I’m extremely excited and motivated to come out swinging with the boys and to bring home a championship with this group.”

Since joining the Prowlers in November 2024, Cooper has racked up 32 wins, second most in franchise history and eight away from Cory Simons’ franchise-record 40. The two are also tied atop the franchise shutouts list with three apiece. Cooper’s career 2.47 GAA is second in franchise history and his .922 save percentage is third. He is the Prowlers’ all-time leader in playoff wins with six.

“Bringing Coop back this season was a huge priority,” said Prowlers associate head coach Chris Paulin. “His development, on and off the ice over the last year and a half has been incredible.  He has earned his success through meticulous preparation, incredibly hard work, and an intense drive to win. He is a leader in our room who sets the tone and mentality for the group. There is not a game on the schedule he is not capable of taking over. His will to win is contagious and he has made it clear he is coming back to finish what we started.”

Outside of Port Huron, Cooper has experience in the ECHL and SPHL, including a stint with the Kalamazoo Wings last season. He also signed an amateur tryout with the NHL’s Washington Capitals and dressed for a game near the end of the 2022-23 season following a standout career at Curry College.
