Sam Marit Returns After Career Year
Sam Marit has become the latest forward announced by the Prowlers to be returning to Port Huron. He had signed with Phenix de Reims in France earlier this summer.
“I wasn’t expecting to get Marit back, but it’s obviously great news when you’re able to return a player of his caliber,” said Prowlers general manager Matt Graham. “He has really grown over the past two seasons and I’m expecting his growth to continue. He is a player that is capable of taking over the game. If he can continue to develop in all areas of the game, there’s no limit on what he can achieve. We are expecting big things from him this season, and he will also play an important role in our success.”
Marit became a point-per-game player in his first full FPHL season last year. His 49 points were fifth among Prowlers and he tied for the team lead with seven power play goals. He also added three points in two playoff games. The Toronto, Ontario native had a stretch from mid-November to mid-January in which he picked up a point in 20 of 22 games.
Marit joined the Prowlers midway through the 2021-22 season after beginning that year in Sweden. He posted 21 points in 29 games the rest of the way.
“I’m excited,” Marit said. “We as a group have taken some huge strides over the last season and we’re hungry for the opportunity in front of us to take the next step in competing for a championship.”
The Prowlers’ home opener is Oct. 20 and season ticket packages are still available to see every home game this season. For more information and to purchase, visit phprowlers.com/season-memberships or call the box office at 810-985-6166.
