The Streak Stops at 13 in Overtime Thriller

Port Huron, MI - The Port Huron Prowlers kicked off a three game home series with the Carolina Thunderbirds on Friday night, losing 6-5 in OT. The Prowlers had come into play winners of 13 consecutive, but were unable to finish off the Thunderbirds, who battled back for the win.
Port Huron came out aggressive in the first period, collecting the first two goals off the sticks of Matt Robertson and Robert Vanwynsberghe; Robertson scored at 3:56, his 19th goal on the season. Carolina was able to answer with a goal of their own from forward Tom Kilgore; Kilgore scoring at 15:03 from Jason Berube. After the first 20 minutes of play, the score sat at 2-1 in favor of the home team.
The scoring would continue in the second period, as the Prowlers were able to push their lead to 4-1, with goals from Branden Parkhouse and Matt Graham; Graham's goal coming on the power play just 29 seconds in on an elbowing call to Alex Vazquez. Carolina would keep fighting and once again cut the lead in half with a late goal from Michael Bunn, leaving the score at 4-2 going into the final period of play.
The third period would be all Carolina as they would go on to score four of the final five goals, including the OT winner off the stick of Michael Bunn; Bunn's second on the night and 16th on the season.
These two teams will face off again Saturday at 7:30 PM at McMorran Arena.
